Over the years, Dengue has become a major health concern in India, affecting both urban and rural areas. Dengue fever has become a threat to the communities, especially during the rainy season. In absence of effective drug and vaccine for dengue, community participation has proven crucial in prevention and control of this disease.
The ‘Aedes mosquito’, vector of dengue, bites during daytime; hence, the preventive measures taken in schools by school administration, teachers and students can help in minimising the risk of transmission. In view of the above, the initiatives in preventing mosquitogenic conditions in Olympus High were felt as a need of the hour.
The school management has been regularly checking the school campus and removing or treating any containers filled with water. Also, fogging process is being carried out in a controlled manner to prevent the transmission of dengue fever within the school premises. Children are motivated to maintain general cleanliness in and around the school. They are being educated about the causes, symptoms and prevention from the disease. These initiatives align with the school’s commitment to community well-being and public health.
