On April 26, 2024, Olympus High organized an engaging landslide drill, aiming to enhance students’ awareness and preparedness for natural disasters. The simulated scenario ensured students understood the critical steps to take in a landslide emergency.
The drill covered four key topics:
The program commenced with experts explaining the geological factors behind landslides, including rainfall, soil erosion, and terrain instability.
Students learned to identify early warning signs, such as changes in land structure, soil cracking, and increased water runoff.
Participants received briefings on effective evacuation strategies, including identifying safe zones, following designated escape routes, and remaining calm.
Medical professionals demonstrated basic first aid techniques for treating landslide-related injuries, including fractures, cuts, and crush injuries, as well as CPR and bleeding control.
The drill concluded with a simulated evacuation, where students practised moving to designated safety zones.
This successful event empowered Olympus High students with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in a landslide emergency, reinforcing the school’s commitment to safety and well-being.
